Shopping
Gudmundsen Gallery | Timberline Gallery |

For the most part, you don't come to Yosemite to go shopping.  But, it's inevitable that you're going to need souvenirs to take back home.

The best stuff (and most expensive) is in the Ahwahnee Hotel's gift shop.  The Yosemite Village general store is your basic supermarket and giant gift shop and it has some good stuff, but do not over look the Ansel Adams Gallery located next to the post office.  Lot's of neat artwork there.

If you like large paintings and artwork, DO NOT pass up the artist Mark Gudmundsen. He paints his unbelievably life-like, photo-realistic paintings of park landmarks and vistas in the lobby of the Tenaya Lodge.

Also, there are a few art galleries with some WONDERFUL Yosemite art and several gift shops in Oakhurst and Mariposa.  If you plan to be in Oakhurst Memorial Day weekend (last Monday in May) or Labor Day weekend (first Monday in September) you can attend one of the largest antique and craft shows in the central valley in Oakhurst, the Peddlers Fair.  This is a GIANT show.

A word about Nice Things Gallery in Merced:   Seldom do you encounter a business with the art of customer service honed to such a fine edge.  George and his son Brian have Yosemite and Western art from some of the most creative and talented artists in the West.  They will ship world-wide and will take as much time as you need to be sure you get what you want.  See their website and call them.  You CANNOT go wrong.
